When Amtrak® was searching for a high-speed train for corridor service, the Spanish Talgo Pendular train barnstormed across the U.S. on demonstration runs in key corridors. Its special pendular suspension allowed higher speeds over existing lines - especially on curves. After its demonstration runs, the train settled into regular service between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia hauled by Amtrak F40PH locomotives.
