Product Information
New Life-Like Berkshires are Loaded with Detail
Lima Locomotive Works was known for its many advancements in the design of steam power. The Berkshire 2-8-4s were the result of the builders improvements to the widely used 2-8-2 wheel arrangement. With their large six-wheel tenders, long sand dome, distinctive piping arrangement and "brow-mounted" numberboards, the "Berks" ordered by railroads controlled by the Van Sweringensthe C&O, NKP and Pere Marquette (a C&O affiliate) had a distinctive powerful look. These new models from Life-Like bring a popular prototype to N Scale. Loaded with hand-applied details, a painted cab interior and a smooth-running mechanism for electrical pickup, these gems will look great heading up hotshots on your high iron. Best of all, since there have been several of these locomotives in excursion service over the last 20 years, they're perfect for both steam- and modern-era layouts.
