Heritage Fleet Run-By, Coal Train Crossing, and more featured projects

Some of our favorite scenes recreate the experience of railfanning a busy mainline in miniature. We’re featuring two videos this week that do an excellent job of capturing the sights and sounds of standing trackside. You’ll also find other outstanding examples of weathering, painting, and scenery building that are sure to inspire you to take on a new project.

Steam-era Oasis
Back in the days when steam locomotives ruled the rails, combined water and sand facilities were the heart of many small engine terminals often located at the end of a lonely branchline. This showstopping model started out as a basic WalthersTrainline kit. Poster Models by Mark took the structure to the next level with expertly applied painting and weathering techniques. He even added realistic mortar joints between the bricks.
