Throroughbreds at Daybreak
Headlights blaze the way as a Norfolk Southern intermodal takes the high line and a hotshot freight barrels along the main below. Even in the low light of morning the classic NS “Thoroughbred” scheme is still visible on the locomotives. This action takes place on the layout built by poster @ns_csx_mytownmodeler. |
Grandma’s Farm
Many model railroad scenes are inspired by favorite places from childhood. Richard Lawson packed a lot of detail into this module that celebrates his favorite piece of rural America.

Demolition Day
It’s the end of the line for this old building. Detailed debris, heavy equipment, and a custom truck bring this HO scale urban scene to life. Find more construction and heavy industry themed vignettes by following @gianna_lynn_wrecking_co.

Fishing with a friend
On a model railroad the thoughtful placement of figures can make a great scene into an exceptional one by telling a story that makes a visitor want to take a closer look. Such is the case of this scene modeled by Bob Buesking III. We want to follow the boy and his four-legged friend to see where their favorite fishin’ hole is.

Patched to Perfection
On the real railroads, freight cars don’t stay bright and shiny for very long. For many modelers making their fresh out of the box models look like they’ve seen decades of service is one of the most fun aspects of our hobby. A case in point is this before and after shot of an HO scale hopper that’s been expertly weathered, faded, and patched out by poster @raylewis_rr_photography.
