Inspiring Modeling

Each week Walthers scours our Facebook and Instagram pages for all the excellent work being done by modelers like yourself. We do this with the hopes that seeing these examples will inspire you to start a new project, finish an old one, or simply unbox your favorite equipment to give it a run around the layout.

Rumbling over excellent-looking bridges on Cliff Powers’ Cumberland & Ohio Valley Railroad, four trains converge on the spot making us thankful for the bird’s eye view!

Great photography can make a layout look deceivingly real. Take the second picture in this image set for example, of a house near the tracks – we had to do a double-take when seeing it the first time because the trees and power lines and fencing are all modeled with such fine detail. A well-framed shot with believable lighting in the background seals the deal.

A father-son team modeled a lively scene at Parkview Terrace giving the tenants easy access to the city. Passing along modeling skills to a younger generation is a great way to keep this hobby alive and well for years to come. Check out all six photos by The Young Prince and the Railroad detailing the work from start to finish.

Check out this fantastically-detailed UP train powered by four units. For our money nothing can match the drama of mountain railways. And yes indeed, we borrowed the title from poster @customtrains! Nice work! |
Unlimited Possibility
With some time, patience, a fresh knife blade and a few extra kit components almost any structure is possible to build. This kitbash by @heeltopmusic appears to have turned the Greatland Sugar Refining kit from Cornerstone into some sort of long factory or warehouse building along the road.
