Modelers Interchange 05-08-20

Kick back, relax, and celebrate the end of another week with the Modelers Interchange. There’s tons of great modeling work being done this Spring and we’re here to share with you some of the most interesting and well-discussed social posts from the last 7 days. Challenge breeds creativity and that creativity has been evidenced by your recent posts! Just click here and enjoy! Got a project you'd like to share? Down and Dirty! Exhaust stains, spilled loads, splashes of mud and dirt and general wear and tear quickly take a toll on prototype equipment. Capturing that gritty look presents some interesting challenges, and there are almost as many ways to do it as there are Modelers. Check out these N Scale Intermountain Hoppers by Adam Henry for ideas and inspiration! Pulp Fiction Discovering the stories that unfold across one’s layout is one of our favorite parts of the hobby. Take this pulpwood harvesting scene posted by @southern.pacific.lines.n.scale for example. So much is happening in this 1’ x 1’ space that you can imagine any number of narratives based on all the detail shown.
Run for Fun No matter how you operate, there's something special about watching your models rumble to life. Dustin Whitten has been keeping trains running on his Norfolk & Western layout this past week behind this former Illinois Terminal SD39. Stacks and Stacks of Autoracks Just try to count the number of autoracks you see in transport on the latest video posted by @customtrains. Nine units were needed to power these two Union Pacific trains passing on lines 2 and 4 of a massive 7-line layout that must stretch a mile.
Heat Things Up! If you've seen a steam loco in action, you'll know why this era is so popular! Bob Wundrock shared this shot of his former Soo line layout that's since been dismantled, but tells us there's a new one in the works!
Each week we’re witnessing some amazing modeling work on display, which is critical in these extraordinary times. Keep modeling and keep sharing. Your work is an inspiration to us and to others as well. And be sure to tag @Waltherstrains or use the hashtag #Walthers for a chance to be featured!
