Often times a sunny summer day means time at the beach or taking care of the lawn. For us, we can’t think of a better way to spend a hot summer day than relaxing in the cool indoors and working on our railroad. By recent social posts, many of you are in the same camp! Today we’ve collected a handful of the most interesting and well-discussed social posts from the last 7 days through our Facebook page and Instagram, and published them below as a proper kickoff to the weekend. Worth 1000 Words Sometimes a single image tells so many stories and jogs our imagination in such a way that words just don’t do it justice. Spend a few moments enjoying this black & white posted by @css803nscale, you won’t regret it. Ich Bin Impressed! Check out this excellent kitbash of a Warehouse created by German poster @flo.rh_85! In detailing out the roof equipment he used air ducts from Shapeways, air conditioners from Walthers, and a water tank from GC Laser. Impressive work!
Hustle & Bustle We LOVE this scene posted by Carlos Vaccarezza modeling a riverside that's bustling with activity. No matter where you look you’ll see excellent modeling work on display. The layout features incredible depth and density, and we imagine it’s magical when the trains roll overhead. Using Some 120 Grit Displaying a fun farmer’s market scene, Brian Lewis provides an excellent example of how sandpaper can be used to create gravel roads. Time saved through such modeling techniques allows more time to be spent running trains.
Fully Loaded Scrap loads add a great deal of interest to consists short and long. Mike Rhoades’ Railgon must be returning from the shop considering its load of couplers, wheels and other scrapped railcar equipment. A hint of color here and there ratchets up the realism without a ton of work.
Each week we’re witnessing some amazing modeling work on display, which is critical in these extraordinary times. Keep modeling and keep sharing. Your work is an inspiration to us and to others as well. And be sure to tag @Waltherstrains or use the hashtag #Walthers for a chance to be featured!
