Nighttime Scenes and Presidential Visits

This week’s selection of projects features modelers who have pulled out all the stops to bring their layouts to life, including using lighting effects, ultra-realistic scenery, and carefully selected vehicles and figures. This City Never Sleeps
Urban canyons, heavy industry and a busy harbor offer 24-hour action on this model railroad built by poster @trainsanddioramas. Click on the white arrow to take a nighttime tour of this exceptional layout.
Sunrise Crossing
Daylight is on the horizon, as this small town begins to wake up. With its horn blaring, the freight crossing main street is better than an alarm clock for any downtown residents. Modeler Mike Light went all out illuminating this late night/early morning scene.
Stand Up Scenery
Static grass is a scenery product that makes it easy to capture the color and texture of real-world vegetation. Poster @newhaven1959 used static grass to great effect in this weedy patch along his N scale layout.
Presidential Visit
Bryce Walat made some history on his HO layout with this scene depicting a visit by President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Era-appropriate vehicles and carefully placed figures tell the story of this presidential photo-op in front of a small-town city hall.
