Foam and Plaster
One of the first steps when creating a model railroad scene is to carefully contour the landscape. Spreading plaster and carving foam just right will ensure that the scene looks like the real thing once the ground cover, water, and other details are added. Click on the white arrows to see how poster @modelrailroadchief is progressing on this excellent arroyo scene.
Mainline Crossing
Details make the difference in this scene from Florian Rheinhard’s model railroad. Utility poles, signals, and era-appropriate vehicles all work together to bring this scene to life. We especially like how he used the backdrop to make the road appear to continue to the horizon.
Plucky Plymouth
Its paint job has seen better days but this Plymouth diesel switcher continues to soldier on along the Union Railroad of Oregon. Poster @mountaingoatmodels meticulously weathered the WalthersMainline model for service on his HO scale micro layout.
Backing Moves
Back in the classic era of model railroading, the caboose was often on point, as many times the most practical operation was to reverse a train into a spur or siding. In this video, poster @ironroadmodels replicates a classic backing move during an operating session on his HO scale Boston & Maine.
