Summer Vacation
Campers head into Lone Pine National Forest, as a MoPac GP7 hauls a cut of cement hoppers past the grain elevator in this idyllic 1960s scene. Click on the link below and follow @mopacmike to see more of his HO railroad featuring the Missouri Pacific, Frisco (St.Louis-San Francisco), and Katy (Missouri-Kansas-Texas) railroads. |
Service with a Smile!
Al’s Victory Service is a bustling hub of activity with cars getting fixed in the garage and the helpful, uniformed attendants ready to handle filling the tank, checking the oil or anything else in this gas station scene straight out of Postwar America. Curry Harsin paid careful attention to the figures and vehicles he chose to keep his layout’s era consistent.

Bringing up the rear
It’s hard to believe that it’s been about 35 years since the caboose was deemed no longer necessary on mainline freight trains. However, on many of our model railroads this iconic piece of rolling stock maintains its importance, such as in this scene somewhere along the Penn Central on Matthew Fry’s HO layout.

Weathered to perfection
Poster @modelrrtips just received this WalthersMainline 37’ 2980 covered hopper, but before it could enter service, he needed to make sure it looked like it worked for a living. He used an airbrush to fade the colors and add just the right amount of dirt and grime effects.
