Sunflowers, speed tests, and night trains

There’s lots of imagination and creativity on display in this week’s featured projects, including realistic lighting with LEDs, scenes that tell a story, and a speed test on what’s sure to be an impressive N scale layout. Here Comes the Sunflowers
A patch of sunflowers greets the crew of Missouri Pacific no. 2255 on this bright summer day in 1976. Poster @MoPacMike created this memorable scene along the main of his HO scale railroad.
M.O.W. Mishap
This Maintenance-of-Way crew might have some explaining to do if the boss shows up. Hopefully they can get things back on track soon. Modeler Gregory Baker enjoys creating scenes that tell a story, such as this one on his layout.
Speed Test
With the benchwork built and the track laid, there’s only one thing left to do – a speed test! Poster @tinytrainz puts his N scale railroad through the paces in this video.
Railfanning After Dark
Nighttime operations are a dramatic addition to any model railroad. James Gibson uses a variety of interior and exterior lighting, industry lights, as well as lighted engines and cars to keep trains rolling after the sun goes down.
24-hour service
Using LEDs, poster @nevada_sub_division_n_scale added realistic lighting to the pump canopy of a Walthers Cornerstone gas station kit. Click on the white arrows to see more of this project.

We hope you enjoy these scenes and discussions as much as we enjoy bringing them to you! Check out our newest announcements in the recent Spring 2021 Walthers Direct video.
